I recently finished reading “The Creative Act: A Way of Being,” a book by record producer Rick Rubin.

A particular sentence on page 319 jumped out at me:
“The world is only as free as it allows its artists to be.”
Given last week’s news about Paramount axing “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” most likely due to Paramount capitulating to the Trump administration so their merger goes through with Skydance Media, we need to hold fast to this sentiment and do all we can to allow artists to express themselves freely.
If we can’t do that, the freedom of expression for the rest of us is on the line.

CBS says it’s cancelling the entire show for ‘financial reasons”. Yeah, right. Their main financial consideration is their attempt to see that this merger goes through by doing something trump wants no doubt, so their financial situation will get better. 🙁
Joan – You are right on. This is a bribe by Paramount, pure and simple. However, since this development, the creators of South Park have released an episode on Paramount that hammers home the extortion Trump uses against everyone … this after they signed a $1.5 billion deal with Paramount. Wonder how Paramount likes them apples? https://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2025/jul/24/south-park-trump-paramount
