Variations on a Theme

The lilies in our yard are just starting to bloom. Because of the combination of a few days of rain followed by a few days of sun, & etc., that we’ve had this summer, the leaves of the lilies are vibrant green and very healthy. There’s nothing I like better than taking my camera out and shooting dozens of photos, often of the same plant, but from different views or with different settings … variations…

Blue Ball

During my walk with Doggle Woggle this afternoon, I snapped some pictures. It’s quite a treat trying to get a steady shot while a 70 pound dog is bounding around on the end of a leash. It’s almost impossible to get said Doggle to stand still long enough to get a pic of him. I managed to get three good photos of him. Unflattering Self Portraits

There is a long tradition of artists creating self portraits. It’s not because we’re all screaming narcissists, although I suppose some of us are. It’s because we can’t always find subjects to paint or draw or photograph. It was for this reason that my grandpa became a landscape painter.
